Sam Powell
State Senate
District 19
Faribault, MN
My name is Sam Powell. I have five children and 9 grandchildren. My wife and I have been married for 30 years. I am a former pastor with a master's degree in divinity.
I was born and raised in California, but the cost of living was too high. I am passionate about working towards healthcare for all, supporting our rural clinics and hospitals fully. To this end, I believe that Minnesota should provide incentives to draw the best medical professionals to staff clinics. People who live in rural areas also deserve quality healthcare.
I believe disabled people have the right to live where they choose to live.
I believe that the tariffs imposed on trade by the current administration is crippling the economy and hamstringing the farmers. It was bad policy and will have disastrous consequences. I stand with the DFL in opposing these bad policies.
Southern Minnesotans have the right to be safe in their own homes. We must strengthen the laws against domestic abuse and sexual assault, provide safe-houses from those who are in danger, and close legal loopholes that allow abusers to abuse again and again.
I am committed to change, for a stronger Minnesota for everyone.
Courage, compassion and community.
