I am a fifth-generation resident of central Minnesota. My mom grew up on a farm and reminds me every day that the food we eat is the fruit of the work of farmers across Minnesota and the country. I grew up in a working-class union family and I was the first in my family to go to college. I graduated from the University of Minnesota with degrees in biochemistry and physiology, and went on to earn my medical doctorate after that. I understand that our rural areas have been neglected by politicians for too long. Rural Minnesota holds a special place in my heart, and I am committed to championing policies that will help these communities grow and thrive.
