Here are resolutions created by DFL Rural Caucus members and prioritized for adoption at the 2026 State Convention. Corporate & Business Accountability to the Public We support fair competition and a halt to further corporate consolidation and monopoly control of the media, tech industry, farm and food system, medical system, agricultural implements, and all sectors of our economy through strong enforcement of federal and state antitrust laws, and by passing the Fair Competition Act to strengthen Minnesota's price discrimination laws. (Download Resolution Form ) Retirement Security We support the passage of the Social Security Expansion Act (SSEA) to make Social Security solvent, fair, and equitable for the next 75+ years. (Download Resolution Form ) Government Accountability to the Public The DFL calls for the restoration of Congressional Authority over tariffs and an end to the trade wars started by the Trump Administration that have unnecessarily increased prices paid by American consumers, small businesses, and destroyed markets for family farmers. ( Download Resolution Form ) Agriculture, Food, & Land Stewardship We support passage of a new, comprehensive Farm Bill that includes a strong farm safety net with effective payment limitations, a restored nutrition title, a strong competition title, strong investments in local food, conservation, climate-smart agriculture, and research. ( Download Resolution Form ) Health & Human Services We support the State of Minnesota's adoption of a universal, single-payer system of healthcare insurance for all its citizens, such as the Minnesota Health Care Plan. ( Download Resolution Form ) Public Safety & Crime Prevention We urge the Governor, Attorney General, Legislature, and all relevant state agencies to establish clear statewide policies, protocols, and legal guidance affirming that Minnesota has the authority to arrest federal agents who commit crimes within the state. ( Download Resolution Form ) Civil, Human, & Constitutional Rights In Minnesota, we believe in freedom, fairness, and equality for everyone. The Minnesota Equal Rights Amendment would enshrine these shared values in our state Constitution, ensuring that every Minnesotan's rights are protected - now and for future generations to come. ( Download Resolution Form ) Natural Resources & the Environment We support policies that protect the health of all Minnesotans by ensuring access to clean, safe drinking water and providing free water testing, education, and remediation for private wells. ( Download Resolution Form ) Health & Human Services We support Medicare for All, which establishes a national health insurance program that covers all residents. ( Download Resolution Form ) Agriculture, Food, & Land Stewardship Supports the development of regional food systems that provide nourishing foods, investments in small business development, food processing infrastructure such as small-scale meat processing, community commercial-grade kitchens, food storage, and food transportation, and marketing of goods and specialty crops that have environmental and economic benefits. - Thank You, Senator Tina Smith, for Being a Champion for Rural Minnesota!
Last week, Senator Tina Smith announced that she will not seek re-election to the U.S. Senate in 2026. While we will miss her leadership, we want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for her years of service—especially her unwavering commitment to rural Minnesota. From standing up for reproductive rights to her tireless advocacy for farmers and small-town businesses, Senator Smith has always been a leader on broadband expansion, mental health resources, and rural infrastructure. She understands that a strong Minnesota means investing in every corner of the state, not just the metro areas. As a former Lieutenant Governor, U.S. Senator, and lifelong organizer, she has fought for policies that uplift working families, expand access to healthcare, and ensure that rural voices are heard at the highest levels of government. Her work on agriculture and economic development has left a lasting impact, and her leadership will be deeply missed. We thank Senator Smith for her service, her dedication, and her belief in the power of rural communities. We look forward to seeing what she does next and know that her work to make Minnesota a better place is far from over.
