- 2024 Endorsed Candidates: Rep. Kristi Pursell
Rep. Kristi Pursell is the DFL Rural Caucus endorsed candidate running for MN House of Representatives in House District 58A Back Rep. Kristi Pursell MN House of Representatives House District 58A Northfield, Minnesota I’m proud of my Southern Minnesota roots, raised in Rochester, a graduate of St. Olaf College, and a nine-year resident of Northfield where I’m raising my two children. As a community leader, I've built strong partnerships across our district. I served as Executive Director of Clean River Partners for eight years, focusing on the Cannon River watershed, and have been involved with grassroots organizations like the Land Stewardship Project, ISAIAH MN, and TakeAction MN. In my first term in the state legislature, I secured funding to protect our environment, support local farmers, and address nitrate issues in drinking water. I’ve also advocated for people-centered healthcare, housing infrastructure, and supported school districts with the READ Act. Representing rural Minnesotans at the Capitol, I believe true leadership involves partnering with the community to create solutions for all. Grounded in our values, we can build a resilient climate, robust education, strong democracy, and high-quality healthcare system. - Our Caucus | DFL Rural Caucus
Learn more about the DFL Rural Caucus, what we do, and our team Our Caucus Officers & Directors Constitution & Bylaws Committees About The DFL Rural Caucus was established in 2019 with the goal of giving a voice to rural communities and addressing their unique needs. Rural Minnesota accounts for less than 20% of the state's population and has a rich history of self-sufficient rural citizens who built the foundation of American democracy. (x ) Despite the changes in the makeup of the United States, rural communities still face important issues such as access to reliable broadband, education, conservation, and healthcare. As the 2016 elections have shown, the Democratic Party cannot afford to ignore any county or vote in its quest for a fair and just society. To achieve this goal, the DFL must have a strong presence in every region of the state. The DFL Rural Caucus serves as a platform for rural residents to become active members of the DFL and actively engage with the ongoing work of the party. It aims to generate support for and understanding of rural issues among caucus members, the DFL, and key stakeholder organizations working on behalf of rural residents and communities. Since its formation, the Rural Caucus has focused on recruiting rural DFL members, providing support to county parties where rebuilding is needed, supporting DFL candidates, and recruiting high-quality candidates to ensure that no race goes uncontested. - 2024 Endorsed Candidates: Josiah Ampian
Josiah Ampian is the DFL Rural Caucus endorsed candidate running for MN House of Representatives in House District 16B Back Josiah Ampian MN House of Representatives House District 16B New London, Minnesota As the youngest child of four, I have always felt that family unity should come before each individuals personality(political or otherwise). From coming together for Christmas to just spending time every week, families (whether chosen or blood) are the quintessential unit that help bring us together as a community. Fostering that community takes time and patience, and a willingness to step outside of normal perceptions. As someone who has supervised and helped direct leadership in previous jobs, I am no stranger to that. It also takes responsibility that requires understanding the effects of actions taken not just directly, but also the after effects of decisions you make. In my spare time I enjoy playing video games, spending time with with my dog, nerding out to Marvel, and occasionally participating in theater. The arts and humanities are a big piece of why I love Kandiyohi/Minnesota, and it's one of the reasons I am going to stick around. josiah.d.ampian@gmail.com Donate Website

I'm a father 3 young boys, husband to my wife Lisa and Afscme brother of local 221 metro DOT. I'm running for state Senate because I see our state as our neighbors and communities all with check engine lights on. As a heavy equipment mechanic I just want to go around and help people fix what's not working. From outrages health insurance costs, cost of housing and food always going up but pay rarely keeping up, and accountability for everybody but the ones in charge. As a mechanic and a Frontline worker I want to enable my fellow workers and neighbors the ability to build a better community for Minnesota to thrive in instead of a future we just survive in. louismcnuttforoffice@gmail.com Donate Website
